National Librarian’s Day Librarian Day,

Celebration Report 12 Aug, 2024-25

National Librarian’s Day was celebrated on 12th Aug 2024 on the occasion of 131th Birth Anniversar of Dr. S.R.Rangathan, Father of Library and Information Science. The event started at 12:00 p.m. at Oriental College of Education Room No.714. Library Member Vaishali Khandelwal welcomed all the principals, Faculties and wished Librarian on this occasion. Lighting of Lamp done by Dr. Sangeeta Nath , Librarian Mr. Salim Dhanse are invited for this event Librarian, Mr.Salim Dhanse, Oriental College of Education spoke about the 5 Laws of Library Science by Dr. S.R.Rangathan which are acceptable all over the Library World. These laws tell us that the books are not to just keep in the shelves that have to be used by all. Libraries are growing organism in terms of collection, service, user’s person one who identified the real need of libraries and library science education in our country. He was the Chairman of the UGC Library Commission and started DRTC (Documentation Research and Training Centre) at Bangalore to promote the research activities in the field of Library and Information Science. etc. Library Committee incharge mrs,Tejal Nikam of also spoke few words about the great Librarian of India. Principal Dr.Sangeeta Nath also spoke about the importance of Libraries in any academic sector and also how librarians help to get required information by the users. It is very important to have knowledge about the knowledge and to disseminate it in required form as per the needs. A poster making Competition was organized where Students form Oriental College of Education Participated about the Importance of S.R Ranganthan . Winners and Participants were given Certificates as well The event is concluded with speech and vote of thanks Prof.Tejal Nikam to the principal, faculties who attended this programme and made it successful last but not least the librarian who organized this event and are the importance of libraries in any academic institute.

Oriental Education Society's ORIENTAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (Affiliation to University of Mumbai and NCTE) Sector No.2, Plot NO.3,4,5, Near Sanpada Railway Station, Sanpada (W), Navi Mumbai – 400705 __________________________________________________________________________ Date 17/02/2022 Oriental Education Society’s Oriental College of Education, Sanpada Book Exhibition was held on 17/02/2022. We had invited Himalaya Publication book seller for Book Exhibition at our campus. Book Exhibition inauguration was done by the Principal Dr.Ratani Thakur in the presence, Librarian Mr. Salim Dhanse & Library Committee Members, faculty members, Non- Teaching staff and students. For this exhibition the books of various subjects and types were kept. Such as history, geography, economy, mathematics, science, physics, zoology, chemistry, botany, computer science, English autobiography, novels, drama, poetry, as well as competitive exam books etc. books create a good moral human being as well as create transformation in human life about future. This awareness is created by Department of Library. Department of Library always tries to enhance student’s knowledge about human personality development. It also provides information about social, cultural, education, political, historical, and scientific section of life for personality development students can read autobiography and biography of various authors, scientist and great heroes, etc. Also encouraging was the fact that there were many recommendations for book purchases from many of them. The objective was to inculcate the reading habit in students. The event was a great success. The Book exhibition was successful due to the contribution of all professors, non- teaching staff the members of library and all students. Contribution was also being made by the principle and chairmen of Oriental Education Society’s for the successful organization of book exhibition. Department of B.Ed. Library. Oriental Education Society's ORIENTAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (Affiliation to University of Mumbai and NCTE) Sector No.2, Plot NO.3,4,5, Near Sanpada Railway Station, Sanpada (W), Navi Mumbai – 400705 __________________________________________________________________________ Date: 15th October 2018 Abdul Kalam Vachan Prerana Divas With Book Exhibition Report (A.Y.2018-19 ) ‘Vaachan (reading) Prerna (inspiration) Diwas (day)’celebrated on 15th October 2018. It is 87th birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The Vaachan Prerna Diwas will encourage reading habits among students. Dr. Mrs Ratani Thakur, Oriental College of Education, Principal and Mr.Salim Dhanse, Librarian of OCE, had taken efforts to organize this event successfully. The event is organized in lecture Hall at 10.30am. The event started at 10.30 a.m. at lecture Hall. Mrs Swarnalata Soni welcomed all the, Faculties, Librarians and students. Lighting of Lamp done by Dr.Ratani Thakur Principa,and Dr.Sangeeta Nath, Prof. faculty members . Felicitation to the Honorable dignitary by Ratani Thakur principal,oce Ribbon Cutting by Dr.Ratani Thakur Principal at Book Exhibition which was initiated by Himalaya Publications and Jai Ambe Book House. Books work kept on various subjects along with Kalam’s books. The event was organized in order to bring outer exposure to its students, to sow the seed of interest and to enhance their knowledge. Hence, the event turned out to be a grand success. Students presented ppt.&flim-I am kalam ,at 1:30 in seminar hall about the Dr. APJ Kalam. He was Indian scientist and politician who played a leading role in the development of India’s missile and nuclear weapons programs. He was president of India from 2002 to 2007. He widely referred to as the "People's President". He returned to his civilian life of education, writing and public service after a single term. He authored several books and poems. He was a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. We have also conducted Elocution and Reading Competition on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Students participated in Elocution competition. In Reading Competition some students presented Reading by Dr. APJ Kalam, some presented Reading on Dr. APJ Kalam and some students presented by writing them. Dr.Ratani Thakur principal had given speech about the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and also given guidance to participate of Elocution Competition. She has also given the massage of Dr. Apj Abdul kalam about hard work. to listen and then prize given to student certificates given to students who participated in Elocution and Reading competitions. Vote of thanks is proposed by Prof.Swarnalata Soni to all the dignitaries, Management and Faculty members, Librarian, teaching on nonteaching staff and Students who were present for the celebration and made it successful. Jan 2020. (A.Y.2019-20) Oriental Education Society’s Oriental College of Education Sanpada, Department of Library has organized a book exhibition on Friday 11 January 2020. The exhibition was inaugurated with the auspicious hands of principle Dr.Ratani Thakur, Principle of Oriental College of Education on this occasion various dignitaries of the Oriental College of Education, Librarian Mr. Salim Dhanse, professors and student were present. The main aim behind organizing such exhibition is to create awareness and interested about reading. It also provides information about the kinds of books available in the library. For this exhibition the books of various subjects and types were kept. Such as history, geography, economy, mathematics, science, physics, zoology, chemistry, botany, computer science, English autobiography, novels, drama, poetry, as well as competitive exam books etc. books create a good moral human being as well as create transformation in human life about future. This awareness is created by Department of Library. Department of Library always tries to enhance student’s knowledge about human personality development. It also provides information about social, cultural, education, political, historical, and scientific section of life for personality development students can read autobiography and biography of various authors, scientist and great heroes, etc. As in impact of this students can dream about various positions of their respective fields of arts, commerce and science. The Book exhibition was successful due to the contribution of all professors, non- teaching staff the members of library and all students. Contribution was also being made by the principle and chairmen of Oriental Education Society’s for the successful organization of book exhibition. Department of Library This was an excellent chance for students to learn about the writing profession and get inspiration for their own work. Students get benefit from the speech and suggestions. The book fair included a diverse selection of books from several categories. Categories are mentioned below; • Poetry books • Fiction books • Nonfiction books • Mystery books • children’s literature books • academic books • Government exams books.
