Librarian’s Day, Celebration

                  National Librarian’s Day was celebrated on 10^th Aug 2019 on the occasion of 127^th Birth Anniversary of  Dr. S.R.Ranganathan, Father of Library and Information Science. Dr. Ratani Thakur , Oriental College oF Education , Principal and Prof. Salim Dhanse Librarian,  had taken efforts to organize this event successfully. Prof. Raosaheb Shindegalwekar. Sanpada College of Commerce & Technology, Principal; and Miss. Rupali Bhagat Librarian, Dr. Sudha Rathod, Oriental College of pharmacy, Principal and Mrs.Arunadevi Lingam Librarian.Dr. P.Y Gaonkar, Oriental college of Law, Principal, and Mrs Kalpana Gaikwad ,Librarian are invited for this event.

             The event started at 10.30 a.m. at Oriental College of Education , Seminar Hall. Prof. Sangeeta Nath welcomed all the principals, Faculties and wished all Librarians on this occasion. Lighting of Lamp done by Dr. Ratani Thakur, Prof. Raosaheb Shindegalwekar, Dr.P.Y Gaonkar, Dr. Sudha Rathod & Librarian Prof.Salim Dhanse 

         Librarian Prof.Salim Dhanse had given brief information about the Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, Father of Library and Information Science was the first person one who identified the real need of libraries and library science education in our country. He was the Chairman of the UGC Library Commission and started DRTC (Documentation

 Research and Training Centre) at Bangalore to promote the research activities in the field of Library and Information Science.

        Dr. Ratani Thakur, Principal of Oriental College of Education had motivated all students and faculties to visit  libraries and make use of it, she also appreciated all Librarians for their contribution in the education field. 

      Dr. Ratani Thakur Principal thanked all the principals, faculties who attended this programme and made it successful.she told the library is t importance in any academic institute. Dr. Sudha Rathod, Principal of OCP talked about how to improve our library system in the future. Prof. Raosaheb Shinde, Principal of SCCT told about the functions of libraries and the changes he made in the libraries to promote discipline in the libraries and better use of libraries. Dr. P.Y. Gaonkar, Principal of OCL talked about the need of Libraries to students and faculties to grow in the society as well.

      Mrs. Pushpalata D’Souza, Graphologist presented ppt. on need of handwriting analysis how it is used to improve our studies, career, relationship etc. She asked three students to do their signatures and analyzed them.

    Vote of thanks is proposed by Prof. Swarnlata Soni to all the dignitaries, Management Trustees, Faculty members, Librarians, Non-Teaching staff and Students who present for the celebration and made it successful.
