National Librarian Day Celebration 2018

 National Librarian’s Day was celebrated on 11^th Aug 2018 on the occasion of 126^th Birth Anniversary of  Dr. S.R.Rangathan, Father of Library and Information Science. Dr. Ratani Thakur , Oriental College oF Education , Principal and Mr. Salim Dhanse Librarian had taken efforts to organize this event successfully. Prof. Raosaheb Shindegalwekar. Sanpada College of Commerce & Technology, Principal; and Miss. Rupali Bhagat Librarian,  ,Dr. Wasim Ahmed , Oriental college of Law, Principal, and Mrs kalpana Gaikwad  Librarian , Dr. Sudha Rathod, Oriental College of pharmacy, Principal and Librarian are invited for this event.

The event started at 11.30 a.m. at Oriental College of Education Library 5^th Floor. Prof. Sangeeta Nath welcomed all the principals, Faculties and wished all Librarians on this occasion. Lighting of Lamp done by Dr. Ratani Thakur, Dr. Wasim Ahmed, Dr. Sudha Rathod.  Prof. Raosaheb Shindegalwekar,Vijaya.patil,&ApurvaVichare.                                                                                   
Prof. Swarnlata Soni &Pushpa Torne , Faculty given brief information about the Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, Father of Library and Information Science was the first person one who identified the real need of libraries and library science education in our country. He was the Chairman of the UGC Library Commission and started DRTC (Documentation Research and Training Centre) at Bangalore to promote the research activities in the field of Library and Information Science.

Mr. Salim Dhanse, Librarian of Oriental College of Education also spoke few words about the great Librarian of India. Dr. Ratani Thakur,  Dr. Wasim Ahmed and also spoke about the importance of Libraries in any academic sector and also how librarians help to get required information by the users. It is very important to have knowledge about the knowledge and to disseminate it in required form as per the needs.

Mrs. Arunadevi Lingam, Librarian ,of Oriental College of Pharmacy spoke about the 5 Laws of Library Science by Dr. S.R.Rangathan which are acceptable all over the Library World. These laws tell us that the books are not to just keep in the shelves that have to be used by all. Libraries are growing organism in terms of collection, service, users etc.

The event is concluded with Dr. Ratani Thakur’s speech and vote of thanks to all the principals, faculties who attended this programme  and made it successful last but not least all the librarians who organized this event and are the importance of libraries in any academic institute.
