Objective:

Ø  To create awareness of reading habit.

Ø  To understand the important of reading.

Ø  To develop the reading skill among Student-Teachers.

Ø  To motivate the Student-Teachers for reading Novels and literature.

On the occasion of Vachan Prerna Divas or Reading Day, an assembly was conducted on 15th  Octobe 2022 to honour the birth anniversary of our late President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who had a keen interest in reading and writing. This day is observed as Reading Day so that the student understands the importance of reading and are encouraged to develop it as a hobby.

 


The students of Oriental College of education have decided to celebrate this day to show respect and gratitude to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. The students participated in the reading activity with great enthusiasm and excitement. On 15th October at 10.30 am, the programme started.

Preparation

The preparation for the programme happened one day prior to the main event on 14th October. Dr. Vithoba Sawant Sir and Ms. Kinkini Dutta Ma’am were teacher in charge of the


programme. They decided the chronology of the programme and asked the students to
prepare and execute in the same way.

The hosts prepared their welcome speech and vote of thanks speech and the participants practiced their reading skills

                             Execution

On Saturday 15th October at 10.30 am the programmed started as planned. The students and teachers gathered in the venue. The host Ms. Sunita Karki started the programme by giving the welcome speech. Then, Ms. Sunita invited the Principal Dr. Sangeeta Nath ma’am and all the teaching staff to light the lamp.

 

Ms. Soma Dey presented a ppt - presentation and explained the importance and need of     the programme.

Ms. Poonam Jaiswal hosted the book reading competition. She also introduced the judges of the competition Asst. Professor Asmita Wewhare Ma’am and Asst.Professor Ms. Pooja Tiwari Ma’am.

Many students took part in the competition and presented their reading skills in Hindi, English and Marathi. The books were provided by Mr.Salim Dhanse Librarian    of Oriental College of Education

        Prof Dr. Vithoba Sawant Sir also presented his views, thoughts and insights regarding the programme and mentioned the significance of this day.

The judges gave their valuable insights and also announced the winners of the competition.

 Everybody congratulated the winners.

The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Ms. Rahaf Shaikh. With that, the hosts ended the program by asking everybody to stand for National Anthem.




Overall the event of Vachan Prerna Diwas was a resounding success. The teachers and students enjoyed and learned a lot of things from the event.
